Checking In to a Job
GPS capture and starting a visit
Checking in is how you start a visit at a site. provvio captures your GPS location and the time so the visit has a verified record of when and where you arrived.
Two Ways to Check In
From a Scheduled Job:
- Open the provvio app
- On Today's Jobs, find the job for today
- Tap the job to open it
- Tap Check In to start the visit
Quick Check-In (ad-hoc visits):
- Open the provvio app
- Tap Quick Check-In from the home screen
- Choose the client, then the site (or create new ones inline if needed)
- Tap Check In
- Allow location access if prompted
Quick Check-In is for unscheduled visits, emergency call-outs, or extra visits that weren't planned.
Job Acceptance (when enabled)
If your organisation has Require Job Acceptance turned on, scheduled jobs land in a Pending group on Today's Jobs. Tap Accept (or Accept All) before you can check in. This gives admins confirmation that field staff have seen and committed to the day's work. See Job Acceptance for the full flow.
GPS Verification
When you check in, provvio compares your GPS location with the site's address and geofence radius (default 100 m).
- Inside the geofence is recorded as within geofence
- Outside the geofence is still allowed, but flagged on the visit record
- Your exact coordinates and accuracy are captured
Tip: Allow location services on your device for accurate check-ins. If GPS is shaky, step outside or near a window for a stronger signal.
What Happens After Check-In
Once you're checked in:
- A visit record is created with your arrival time, GPS, and accuracy
- Any assigned checklist for that site (or job, via service type) becomes available
- The visit timer starts running
- Admins and Managers can see you're on-site
Tips
- Check in as soon as you arrive for the most accurate arrival time
- You can only be checked in to one site at a time
- If you forgot to check out from a previous visit, an admin can close it on the dashboard
